Kara Miller
L.P.C., M.A., N.C.C., C.R.C.
Hello and welcome! My name is Kara (she/her/hers) and I am excited that you have found my website. I am on a mission to provide the best counseling services possible to my clients because I believe in the transformative power of knowing thyself. I am interested in the whole, great spectrum of human experience. Whether you are a young adult grappling with what kind of career to pursue or a retiree reflecting on your legacy, I would be honored to accompany you on your road towards discovery and healing.
My approach to helping is informed by many of the great psychological theorists throughout history, and is adapted to fit the needs of each individual. I rely on the person-centered approach of providing an accepting and empathetic space for my clients. I often explore the questions asked by existential therapists about how we create meaning in our lives. Sometimes, I like to look at dream symbolism and spiritual beliefs with clients. In short-term therapy and consultation sessions, I can provide solution-focused techniques to overcome imminent obstacles and achieve more immediate goals. My fundamental guiding principle is that you, the client, are the expert on your life and have the ability to create abundant positive change. How we harness that personal expertise is the only thing that changes with each different therapeutic approach.
Now let’s get to the qualifications: I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (which indicates a specialization in assisting folks with disabilities). I completed a master’s degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida, did my undergraduate work at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, and proudly graduated from Key West High School in the beautiful Florida Keys. Professionally, I have served college students at several different universities, people of all ages with disabilities, incarcerated women, and LGBTQIA+ folks.
Sound like we might be a good fit? I offer free, 20-minute phone consultations to make sure. Please use the “services” button below to learn more or feel free to contact me directly with any questions.
